Gravity 5 and Lower
Unless it’s a new product, and further research convinces you that it’s on a steep increase, generally avoid these products. Tread wearily and do further research.

If you can be satisfied that the product has a stable gravity score, affiliate products in this ClickBank gravity range will usually convert well, and although you will have competition, its worth putting in the time to get visitors to the sales page. Once a gravity of 20 is established, it’s usually time to consider some PPC, advertising, and bid on keywords in the products name.
As well, do not forget that a major part of the art of affiliate marketing is the ability to pre sell a prospect on your web page, before they visit the product. You will see a significant increase in conversions if you do a good job of pre- selling your prospects.
Gravity greater than 100
Probably not the place for a novice to start. Lots of competition.
These products though, can give great returns if you can be effective. Your SEO, keyword etc and marketing costs can start to get high, search engine rankings are hard to get, and you need to keep a close eye on costs of promotion to compete for top SERPs..
If you are list marketing, the chances are that your subscriber belongs to more than one list. There is a distinct probability that products in your niche with gravity in excess of 100, will be offered to your list member by someone else. This highlights the critical importance of building a strong relationship with your list. You need them to accept your offer over others, using that relationship.
Gravity alone is not the answer to a profitable affiliate product; it is a great place to start when evaluating digital affiliate products. The summary is that if you are starting out, shoots for those products with a gravity between 20 and 100, provided that your other research lets you know that the product is value, of quality and has good vendor support.
