am student (Web Design) and I have just started to build my Portfolio. Everything has been going really great – but now I have an site and I am in way over my head. Initially, the client was going to be selling a few items, and just wanted a shopping cart. Now, it has turned into a full blown site. He wants buyers to be able to create a login that will remember their credit card information, he wants to accept all major credit cards apart from Paypal, and he wants to transactions to be processed instantly. Basically he wants amazon.com. I know that this is where I need to learn PHP and My SQL. Here is my dilemma – do I back out now and give him his money back, or do I push through? I have looked at store “templates” but there doesn’t seem to be anything I can integrate into my site. ANY suggestions would be VERY MUCH appreciated.

Find Your Passion: If you are passionate about something you have the potential to market, the work will come much more naturally. Not only will you have the skill to market with confidence, you will have your own insight on the product and can add your own unique twist as to how you go about marketing.

Find a Problem, Solve It: Finding a problem or a question within your market can be as easy as scoping forums and looking at question sites such as yahoo answers, Google groups, or communities. Once you find a common problem amongst your market, research it and implement your own marketing plan. If you see a question that you know you can answer easily, you can make a whole marketing campaign around that question.

Evergreen Markets: When entering a particular niche, you should keep in mind the fact that not every market is alive and active year round. Evergreen markets are markets that are consistently hungry on a day to day basis. Good examples of these types of markets are weight loss, self help, and wealth. Evergreen markets mean consistent return on investment and the opportunity for up sells.

You will be a lot better off from the beginning sticking with an evergreen market.
