One of the biggest phobias when it comes to marketing is talking on the phone. Let’s face it, this can be a very scary experience. You’re talking to total strangers. Some people can be very intimidating on the phone or even downright nasty, especially if you call them during dinner hour. So how do you overcome this fear of talking on the phone?
One of the best ways, and don’t laugh, is to do some mock phone calls with either a family member or a friend. Make sure you have a script to read off of so that you don’t have to do this off the top of your head. Have fun with it. Make a game of it. By the end of the exercise, you’ll be laughing and having a good time and you’ll realize that talking on the phone really isn’t that hard.
Another marketing phobia is sending out emails to people. You don’t know what to say. You’re afraid that anything you put in your email is going to read like something out of grade school. You have absolutely no confidence in your writing ability. How do you get around this?
One great way is to actually take a writing course. There are tons of coursing out there not only geared to writing in general but to email marketing in specific. These courses will teach you techniques on how to communicate with people through email. You’ll learn what to say and, more importantly, what not to say. After a while, you’ll have no fears when it comes to sending people emails.
The last one I want to go over is Google Adwords. The big fear with Adwords is that you’ll end up spending a fortune in clicks with no sales to show for them. There is only one way around this fear. Get an education on Adwords. There are plenty of good books out there on the subject. Get one and read it.
These are the three most common marketing phobias. Once you have overcome them, by the simple methods I have given you above, you’ll be well on your way to marketing like a pro.
To YOUR Success,
