The importance of generating high pr backlinks to increase page rank can not be emphasized enough anymore, it is absolutely mandatory. Once you start your backlink building campaign, you will find that it can be a difficult task if you don’t know which direction to take.

The traditional way to acquire high pr backlinks is to search the internet for websites with a high PR that share the same or similar interest with your own and ask them for a reciprocal link. A reciprocal link is a link where you place a link on your site for which another website owner will place your link on their site in return.

The problem that occurs when searching for reciprocal links is that if you are just starting out, then your page rank is zero. Most sites that are already established do not have any incentive to exchange links with you.

High Pr backlinks: Social networking

When that problem occurs, that is when you will need to get a little creative. We all know that Web 2.0 social networking sites have bombarded the internet, but what most people do not realize is that they are a great source of high pr backlinks. You can set up an account with several social networks, submit a blog with a link to your website and voila!; you have created a quality backlink to your website.

There are literally hundreds of social networking and social bookmarking sites on the internet. Being able to post to each one of these social networks daily will generate thousands of backlinks to your website on a weekly basis. For the best results I use a social bookmarking software which allows me to post to hundreds of social networks like stumble Upon and Digg with just one click. In addition to the good quality high pr backlinks generated from social networking sites, you can also generate a ton of traffic. Social networks are very viral, especially if your post makes it to the front page. It is not unusual to receive thousands of hits to your website from only one post. Social networking sites are great tools for submitting blog post or announcing whenever you submit a new article.

High Pr Backlinks: RSS Feeds

Another source for acquiring backlinks that usually goes unnoticed are RSS feeds. You can use RSS feed for a variety of reasons. One reason is that they provide great exposure for your website or blog. Once you submit your website to an RSS Feed Directory your feed can be subscribe to by numerous readers, thus creating great exposure for your website. RSS feeds are also a great backlinks tool, you can not only generate backlinks every time your RSS feed is subscribe to, but you will also get free backlinks from each RSS feed directory you use to submit your website.

For best results submit to about 15 directories at a time to spread the amount of traffic you will receive. Spreading your traffic will also help with you Google ranking. The search engines rank websites with consistent traffic higher. You also do not want to generate too many backlinks too fast, as to not raise any eyebrows with Google.

Using the steps that I mention in this article on a weekly basis will increase your backlinks, page rank, and generate unlimited traffic to your website. Remember to stay consistent with your marketing plan and you will be satisfied with the results

The link building constellation maps the ideal link profile of a website for a link building . Covering the main sources of links which make up a typical campaign, the graph shows where each fits in the ‘link constellation’ and the sort of proportional quantity each should be sourced in.

The diagram is based on the makeup of some of the most successful SEO link building campaigns I have run and although its far fom an exact science following this visualisation as a guide will, I believe, result in the most successful possible link campaign for improving PageRank and ranking.

The diagram breaks the link profile of the website down into 6 main categories, 5 of which are built up in the link campaign, the 6th ‘Organic links’ are those links gained naturally through the increased preveliance of the website and the creation of quality content.

1. Internal satellites- 10% of total links

These are internal links and particularly links on sub domains. The suggested examples are subdommains of the main domain which stray from the main content of the site and therefore justify their own domain but are very much part of the main website such as blog.mainwebsite.com, affiliate.mainwebsite.com, jobs.mainwebsite.com- each of these has the same or similar top level navigation as the mainsite and links back to the mainwebsite.com homepage.

2. External satellites- 10% of total links

External ’satellite’ links are links which come from content created on external domains but operated with full editorial control by the mainwebsite (or the link builders). This mostly refers to external blogs, microsites and community portals setup by the optimisers usually for the sole purpose of creating new quality links to the main website.

3. Quality links- 25% of total links

These are the links built usually entirely by the link building campaign on quality, relevant websites. Gaining these links will involve approaching the relevant websites and getting a link put somewhere on their site either by asking, adding to their content (i.e. comments on blogs) or most commonly link baiting with article distribution.

4. Free links- 15% of total links

This is the old school of link building but is still a very important part of creating total link volume. The link profiles of some of the most successful SEO link building campaigns are based massively on free link building alone but this is increasingly becoming a difficult area of utilise to maximum effect. Free directory submission is the most common type of free link building but social media distribution of site content through RSS and tagging is a more modern spin on free link generation.

5. Paid links- 10% of total links

I debated wither this should be included but ultimately accepted that somewhere in any large scale link building campaign paid links would be used to increase total link volume, target some quality relevant sites and also build up link numbers from some high PR (PageRank) sites.

6. Organic links- 25% of total links

I strongly believe that no successful link building program is complete without a substaintial contibution from sites which are not sourced for links as part of the SEO campaign but whom choose to link of their own accord based on the quality of content on the main website or the internal satellites. Adding a blog to the top level domain/ a subdomain of it is a great example of a way to instigate this natural linking process as people are far more likely to link to a corporate blog than a corporate site.

This part of the link profile is the icing on the cake and the realisation that the quality content production as part of the SEO campaign has been successful and the brand has achieved the neccesary exposure to attract attention from the online community. often this goal will only be reached with big brands and the support of offline campaigns.

The importance of building links in is crucial, you could have enormous quantity

of quality and unique content but that is the other major factor of reaching the top of the rankings.

That might sound sad, but there is no other method of telling the search engines that your website is useful because they’re counting each link back to your website as plus in the ranking scheme. The robots are “thinking” that people simply link to your website because they find it useful.

On the other side, you must be very careful when you are doing the promotion, as if the links are too many in a too short period can badly hurt. The links shouldn’t be just random, you must pick the remote sites to be in the same theme with you.

The backlink checkers applications are separated into two categories : the ones which crawls for all your links and let you know the list and the ones which asks you to define your website and the remote one which contains your backlink. The last ones are for checking while the first will not notice you once one or more of all will get removed.

The link building process should look and sound “natural” as much as possible. If the robots “smells” that you’re buying links you’ll have to say bye bye to the organic traffic.

One other crucial factor is that your links should stay live as much as possible because backlink removal is one of the worst things which could happen in the search optimization process, because the robots will feel that you’ve bought that link back.

Organic traffic ? That’s the term of defining the traffic coming free from search engines which doesn’t involve PPC (pay per click), PPM, PTC (pad to click) or any other kind of methods that cost money to bring people to your online website.

As a practice example, linking to your programming related website from a partner with travel theme is not valuable, and can even hurt your positions in the search engines. The good “scheme” would be to link from a website which is either software related, like a computer applications directory and this way would bring benefits. Of course, this is just an example of “good manner” of getting related backlinks.

And the related thing is not really just for search engines. You need targeted visitors too because people interested in health books will not buy or be interested in your computer programming services just because they have reached your site due to your “aggressive” linking.
