It seems that everyone is an guru these days. If you have ever signed up for a few offers or got on a waiting list for the “next big thing” then you know what I mean. I bet your in box is jammed with these solicitations. What happens is, once you get on one Gurus list he does a reciprocal mailing for another guru buddy and this multiplies into a very confusing barrage of mailings about the next best product, loophole or technique.

If you are new to the internet marketing business, this is very dangerous ground. This is due to the fact that once you get on the “information train” and start buying every e-book that comes out you never really get the you need to get started which usually ends in frustration and giving up. What a novice does not realize is that even when you get the e-book, the guru will hit you with many upsells which are other products you “must buy” from him to really make his “methods” work. So your $47 e-book ends up costing you $500 and you are no further ahead than when you started.

Most of the e-books and membership sites are rubbish anyway as it is just re-hashed techniques spun or renamed as something else. These gurus make their money by continually taking advantage of new angles to exploit old methods. The even rip each other off by copying one of their owns new angle or approach. It is like in the gold rush, a few got rich by finding gold but many more got rich by selling shovels – think about that for a moment and how that relates to the internet .

Most of the gurus screen shots are fake, simple photo shop manipulation. Or, they show screenshots and earnings from the actual launch they did which is deceitful because the income they are showing was not derived from the “great new method” they were promoting. Here is the tricky part though, a small percentage of the internet marketing gurus are real and their income statements and methods are genuine. But as a new person deciphering and navigating through this minefield would be a daunting task.

Still proceed with caution, but the gurus that offer the very expensive courses that only allow a limited amount of people to sign up are generally the best ones to look at. Just make sure they have a decent refund policy that allows you to get all or most of your money back without having to jump through any hoops. It is best if you can find a you trust, invest in your education and take action. Most importantly, unsubscribe to the guru lists you are on as it will take away your focus and valuable time.
