“How do we know who to listen to? Who do we trust?”
We are bombarded daily with hundreds of emails promising that they have the ultimate course and all that you need to succeed. They are so convincing, especially when we are new!
Ok, in this business as in any other, while we are learning we need a mentor, leader or teacher!
To think we can mange this alone would lead us down a dead-end path only to feel overwhelmed exhausted and ready to give up! don’t forget the failure rate is 95%!!
Imagine when you were an apprentice or just in a new job if you were just told to get on with it!
We need someone to show us how right? Its no good going it alone, we might learn eventually if we don’t give up first! But if we have a good teacher to follow of course the learning curve will be easier!
So where do we start how do we chose?
What we need is someone who is successful at doing what we want to do, we need an expert not a wannabe! Someone who can prove they are actually practicing what they preach! Who is actually earning money!
There are many frauds out there so we need to see the testimonials, If they are for real they will have no problem showing us the proof we need. If in doubt, leave them out!
Watch and listen carefully, can you easily understand what they are telling you? do you feel you can trust them? do you connect? Do you feel you can believe in them or do they appear to be still trying to figure it all out themselves?
We will all fail maybe even many times, it is part of the learning process! The mentor you chose should be willing to share his failures with you, show you that he was once in your shoes and now share his wisdom with you. I would be extremely wary of someone who says he was an overnight success!
So now that you have chosen your mentor, be a good student, follow what you are shown, don’t think you can cut corners or do it better! If your mentor is successful he knows what you need, stick with it!
If you decide you have chosen wrongly, its no big deal, you will have learnt something, move on! TRUST YOU.
Don’t give up!
